Stripping the interior – boot

Whilst waiting for some parts to come in, I decided to use the time to do the compulsory track car weight stripping.

Started at the back and slowly working my way forwards. Boot carpets, side liners, rear speakers, sound insulation, all gone. Not taken it for a drive yet but I think it may be a bit noisy.

Kept emergency items like the spare tyre, warning triangle, jack and wheel brace. Also was glad to see that the spare tyre well is free from rust.

The Beginning. Project 1703

I’ve been interested in having my own track car for a while and after a lot of web researching, decided to buy a BMW E36. They are recommended as a track car and ideally was looking for a 328i. These are now picking up in price and I was looking for something cheaper. Enter the 323i in coupe form. It’s still a straight 6 but with lower engine capacity and horsepower. The engine and gearbox seem to be OK but it still needs a lot of work. The plan is to catch up on maintenance and then see what it’s got at a novice friendly track day.
